Rehabilitating Petreaus

Using his friend and fellow General, the disgraced Petreaus is reinventing through rehabilitating his damaged personality and reputation by admitting that he has indeed screwed up. What I am not getting from this confession is whether he really screwed up or screwed down or screwed behind. He should not have resigned prematuredly for screwing up, for he is not the first one. In fact Billy the Clinton stayed on in office till the end of his tenure despite his oral diplomacy with his oval office intern! By resigning from the post the General has proven that he is a gentleman. But then when Clinton himself contemplates on coming back in different form in the second term of Obama what stops the General from reinventing himself for a possible comeback, perhaps during the next Bush's presidency? Every thing is possible.
