Saving the Heritage

I am pleased to read that the brave people of Timbuktu have saved the rare manuscripts from the ignorant bandits. It is the not the first time this incident has happened. Burning books seem to be an obsessions in this part of the world. History has recorded many such instances. Even during the French occupation of that part of the Sahara the people dug graves and buried the manuscripts from being taken away by the occupiers. Now it seems the manuscripts will be save in the hands of the Westerners as they have proven that they care for these treasures and have the technology to preserve them. It is high time Muslim societies invest heavily in preserving their history rather than getting those records burned and lost forever.
